The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Command, has confirmed that three persons sustained injuries following a fire outbreak involving a fully loaded Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker in Zaria Local Government Area.
The State Sector Commander, Andrew Longkam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to him, the tanker, owned by Greenville Company, was parked along the Funtua–Zaria road in the Kwangila area when a gas valve malfunction triggered a fire.
He said the incident affected some nearby shops, while three adult males sustained varying degrees of burn injuries.
“The injured victims were immediately evacuated to Nakowa Hospital in Yangoro for initial treatment and later referred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital for further medical care,” he said.
Longkam noted that emergency responders swiftly contained the fire, although it briefly reignited before being completely extinguished.
He added that traffic was temporarily diverted to the opposite lane to prevent secondary accidents, while normal traffic flow has since been restored.
The sector commander further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to evacuate the affected tanker to fully clear the road.
He advised motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area and to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other security agencies managing traffic.
Longkam commended the prompt response of emergency agencies involved in handling the incident and expressed sympathy to the injured victims, wishing them a speedy recovery.
